Scope

This standard specifies the dimensions, appearance, weight, technical requirements, test
methods, inspection rules, packaging, transportation, storage markings, and quality
certificates of steel wires for melt welding (hereinafter referred to as welding wire).
This standard is mainly applicable to cold-drawn steel wires used in electric arc welding,
submerged-arc automatic welding and semi-automatic welding, electroslag welding
and gas welding.
