Foreword
This Standard replaces GB/T 13174-2003 Determination of detergency and
anti-soil-redeposition property for laundry detergents and GB/T 15815-1995
Comparative test of performance for laundry detergents - Cycle of washing
unsoiled cotton control cloth procedure.
Compared with GB/T 13174 and GB/T 15815-1995, the main modifications in
this Standard are as follows.
- modified the standard’s name;
- integrated the main contents of GB/T 13174-2003 and GB/T 15815-1995;
- deleted the Launder-o-meter detergency testing machine in GB/T
15815-1995, and only kept the Terg-o-Tometer type;
- deleted the determination method, evaluation method of whiteness
retention in GB/T 13174-2003;
- modified informative Annex B ~ Annex E in the previous edition to
normative; modified the sequence of annex in this Standard and some
test processes;
- added normative Annex E, Annex F and informative Annex G; provided
guidance on the use of Q value test method.
Annex A, Annex B, Annex C, Annex D, Annex E, Annex F, Annex H of this
Standard are normative; Annex G is informative.
This Standard was proposed by China Light Industry Federation.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee
on Surfactants and Detergents of Standardization Administration of China.

Introduction
The revision of this Standard is one the basis of the integration of GB/T
13174-2003 and GB/T 15815-1995. The revision REFERRED TO relevant
contents of ISO 2267.1986 Surface active agents - Evaluation of certain
effects of laundering - Methods of preparation and use of unsoiled cotton
control cloth, ISO 4312.1989 Surface active agents - Evaluation of certain
effects of laundering - Methods of analysis and test for unsoiled cotton control
cloth, COMBINED China 's specific conditions and industry characteristics,
IMPROVED and REFINED some specific steps in the test, simplified some
principle requirements in ISO 2267 and ISO 4312 as well as the problems
that are rarely used and difficult to unify and master in the actual application.
Since the detergent performance evaluation results are affected by
instruments and equipment, test methods, test materials and reagents,
environmental conditions, and some factors cannot be repeated, it is difficult
to reproduce the test results. So, compared with conventional analytical
method, the test error shall be significant. The application parties of this
Standard shall further explore the consistency of the coordination conditions
and as far as possible ensure the consistency of actual determination results
of each party.
This Standard unifies the conventional conditions of testing test, such as
detergency test models, washing temperature and time, water hardness,
standard detergent concentration. On this basis, in order to provide a
framework for future technological development, it introduces reference
protease, JB series of test cloths, and also provides guidance
recommendations on their uses for detection of detergent products of
different uses. It is also out of this original intention, this Standard only
provides guidance advices but not specific limitation on the use concentration
under testing conditions of detergent products for test as well as the number,
variety of JB series of test cloths. In addition, this Standard provides the
preparation process of commonly used six kinds of JB series of test cloths in
normative annex. Meanwhile, for the purpose of a unified measurement and
to facilitate the use of standard users, for JB series of test cloths used in the
test, reference detergent, reference protease and other special materials, it
also makes a suggestion that it shall be made for relevant corporations by the
Standard’s jurisdiction management department.
Determination of detergency and cycle of
washing property for laundry detergents
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the method of using artificial test cloths to carry out
detergency test so as to evaluate detergent’s detergency, the method of using
cotton white cloth control cycle washing to evaluate detergent’s
anti-soil-redeposition property.
This Standard is applicable to the evaluation on the detergency and the
anti-soil-redeposition property of laundry detergents, including powder, liquid
and paste products.

to this Standard, however, parties who reach an agreement based on this
