1 Scope
This Standard specifies the on-road test method for thermal balance capacity of motor vehicles.
This Standard is applicable to all types of vehicles that are equipped with forced circulation liquid cooled engine and have manual shift function transmission. Other vehicles refer to this Standard for implementation.
2 Normative references

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 environment temperature
air temperature at 1.5m above the shadow of the surrounding environment when the vehicle is driving
3.2 cooling mediums
cooling substances, including engine coolant, engine oil, transmission oil, drive axle lubricants, etc.
3.3 thermal balance
the difference between the temperature of the system (parts, assembly, vehicle) and the ambient temperature is stable
3.4 motor vehicles thermal balance
thermal balance of automotive powertrain (engine, transmission, drive axle) 3.5 cooling constants
the difference between the temperature of the cooling medium and the ambient temperature during thermal equilibrium of vehicle
3.6 allowed maximum cooling medium temperature
the maximum temperature of the cooling medium allowed by the normal
operation of the vehicle powertrain (engine, transmission, drive axle) (given by the manufacturer)
3.7 extreme use conditions
the maximum torque or maximum power output by vehicle low gear, full throttle in a long time
3.8 usual use conditions
the common use of vehicles such as high-speed driving, high-speed climbing, and long idle speed
3.9 extreme use allowed environment temperature
the maximum ambient temperature allowed for use of the maximum
temperature limit for the cooling medium under extreme conditions
3.10 usual use allowed environment temperature
the maximum ambient temperature allowed for a vehicle to be used under the maximum operating temperature limit of the cooling medium under normal
operating conditions
4 Test conditions
4.1 No rain, no fog, the ambient temperature is not lower than 30??C, and the wind speed is not more than 3 m/s. If the ambient temperature is lower than 30??C, the weather parameters such as ambient temperature, humidity and
atmospheric pressure during the test shall be recorded in detail.
4.2 According to the provisions of GB/T 12534, the test road shall have a long- distance high-speed runway with a longitudinal slope of less than 0.1%. meets the test requirements and is safe and reliable.
6 Test methods
6.1 The vehicle preheating is performed according to GB/T 12534.
6.2 If the vehicle is air-conditioned, the external cycle shall be used during the test. The temperature adjustment switch is placed in the maximum cooling mode. The air volume adjustment switch is placed at the maximum position. 6.3 Extreme use conditions
6.3.1 Engine maximum torque speed condition
The vehicle is driven in the II gear and the throttle is fully open (multi-axis driven vehicles shall be in multi-axis drive). Load trailer gradually loads the vehicle. Control the vehicle engine speed to stabilize at the maximum torque speed. The deviation is within ??2% or ??50 r/min (whichever is greater).
6.3.2 Engine rated power speed condition
The vehicle is driven in the II gear and the throttle is fully open (multi-axis driven vehicles shall be in multi-axis drive). Load trailer gradually loads the vehicle. Control the vehicle engine speed to stabilize at the rated power speed. The deviation is within ??2% or ??50 r/min (whichever is greater).
6.4 Usual use conditions
6.4.1 Simulated climbing conditions
The vehicle can climb up to 7% of the highest gear at 3/4 rated speed. Load trailer gradually loads the vehicle. Control the traction of the load trailer is equivalent to the vehicle climbing 7% slope resistance. The deviation is within ??5%. Then control the throttle to drive the vehicle at 3/4 rated speed. The deviation is within ??2% or ??50 r/min (whichever is greater). Traction calculation is as follows.
F = 0.07G
where,
F - Traction, in Newtons (N);
G - Actual total weight of vehicle, in Newtons (N).
6.4.2 High speed driving conditions
Without a load trailer, the vehicle is driven at the highest gear, 90% maximum KC2 - mean cooling constant of cooling medium in backward driving, in degrees Celsius (??C).
6.9 Calculate the allowed environment temperature of all cooling mediums under 6.3.1, 6.3.2. Take its minimum value as the final test result of extreme use allowed environment temperature.
6.10 Calculate the allowed environment temperature of all cooling mediums under 6.4.1, 6.4.2, 6.4.4. Take its minimum value as the final test result of usual use allowed environment temperature.
6.11 Record whether there is an abnormality described in 6.7 in 6.4.3.
6.12 Record the working status of the air conditioner and cooling fan.
6.13 Measuring meteorological parameters. Record the environment
temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind direction, and wind speed during the test in Annex C.
7 Test report
7.1 The test report shall be prepared by the person in charge of the test. 7.2 The content of the test report shall include the following information. a) requester;
b) test purpose;
c) test reference;
d) test date, site and weather;
e) test instruments;
f) test sample vehicle condition;
g) test staff;
h) test results;
i) test conclusions and recommendations.
