Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 10086-1988 "Cylinder Worm, Worm Wheel Terminology and Code".
Compared with GB/T 10086-1988, the main changes of this standard are as follows.
--- Modify the name of the standard and change it to "Cylinder Worm, Worm Gear Code";
--- Added standard "preface";
--- Removed the content of the "requirements" in the scope of the original standard (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 1988 edition);
--- cited the latest version of the relevant standards (see Chapter 2, Chapter 2 of the 1988 edition);
--- Added "combination rules for basic code" (see Chapter 3);
--- List the basic code in tabular form (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the 1988 edition);
--- Removed the terminology (see Chapters 4, 5, and 6 of the 1988 edition).

Cylindrical worm and worm gear code
1 Scope
This standard specifies the cylindrical worm and worm gear code.
This standard applies to cylindrical worm gears with axle angle ∑=90°, as well as worm and worm gear.

3.1 Combination rules for basic code
The basic code of the worm and worm gear follows the requirements of 2.1 of GB/T 2821-2003. The main rules are as follows.
a) the code consists of a master code or a master code plus one or more subscripts or a superscript;
b) The primary code can be a separate uppercase or lowercase letter. The letters should be in italic Roman or Greek letters;
c) the subscript shall be a Roman alphabet or an Arabic numeral or a combination of both;
d) All subscripts shall be marked on the same line and lower than the main code;
e) the symbol of the line (the line is drawn above or below), the superscript except the index, the prescript, the prescript, the subscript, the second
Superscripts and dashes should be avoided.
