supplier can guarantee the contents.
6.1.1.5 According to purchaser’s demand, designations such as Q245R, Q345R,
Q370R, Q420R can specify the carton equivalent. The values shall be decided by
both parties. Carbon equivalent is calculated by Formula (1):
15/)(5/)(6/(%) CuNiVMoCrMnCCEV ...(1)
6.1.2 Permissible tolerances of finished steel plates’ chemical composition shall
comply with the rules of GB/T 222; in which the chemical analysis’s permissible
tolerances of steel finished products: P+0.003%, S+0.002%.
6.2 Manufacturing methods
6.2.1 Steel is smelted in oxygen converter or electric furnace, and it is refined out of
furnace.
6.2.2 Compression ratios of continuous-casting billet and steel ingot are not less than
3; compression ratio of electric slag re-melting billet is not less than 2.
6.3 Delivery states
6.3.1 Delivery states of steel plates are specified in Table 2.
Table 2 Mechanical property and processing property
according to the delivery states of Table 2. Size of sample billets (width × thickness ×
length) shall not be less than 3t×t×3t (t is the thickness of the steel plate).
6.3.4 With the agreement of purchaser, chromium-molybdenum steel plates with more
than 60mm thickness can be delivered in the state – after normalizing,
accelerated cooling and tempering.
6.3.5 Steel plates shall be delivered in cutting state or flame cutting state. When it is
limited by capacity of equipment, with the agreement of purchaser and indicated in
contracts, it is allowed to deliver in burr-state.
6.4 Mechanics and processing property
6.4.1 The results of tensile tests, Charpy (V-notch) impact tests and bending tests
shall comply with Table 2.
6.4.1.1 For steel plates with more than 60mm thickness, with agreement of purchaser
and indication in contract, it may be exempted from bending test.
6.4.1.2 According to the requirement of purchaser, Q245R, Q345R and 12MnNiMoR
steel plates can do the -20°C impact test, to substitute the 0°C impact test in Table 2.
The value of impact absorption energy value shall comply with Table 2.
6.4.1.3 Charpy (V-notch) impact absorption is calculated according to the arithmetic
mean of 3 samples. It allows one of samples’ value to be lower than the
value specified in Table 2, but not lower than 70% of the specified value.
6.4.1.4 For the Charpy (V-notch) impact test of steel plates with less than 12mm
thickness, it shall use auxiliary sample. The size of >8mm~< 12mm auxiliary sample is
10mm×7.5mm×55mm; its results shall not be less than 75% of specified value in
Table 2. The size of 6mm~8mm auxiliary sample is 10mm×5mm×55mm; its results
shall not be less than 50% of specified value in Table 2. Impact test may be exempted
if the steel plates’ thickness is less than 6mm.
6.4.2 According to the requirements of purchaser, steel plates with more than 20mm
thickness can do the high-temperature tensile test, and the temperature shall be
indicated in contract. Under high temperature, the plastic elongation strength Rp0.2 or
yield strength value ReL shall comply with Table 3.
8 Inspection rules
8.1 Test of steel plates shall be done by the quality inspection department of the
supplier.
8.2 Steel plates shall be accepted in batches. Every batch of steel plates consists of
steel plates in the same shape, same-furnace number, same-thickness, same-rolling
or same-thermal treatment. Weight of every batch is not more than 30t.
For steel plates of which the single-sheet weight is more than 30t, it shall be
group-batched according to the rolling sheets.
For steel plates that is delivered in such state – after normalizing, accelerated cooling
and tempering, it shall be group-batched according to the thermal treatment sheets.
8.3 According to the requirements of purchaser, with the agreement of both parties,
for steel plates with more than 16mm thickness, the mechanical properties shall be
performed sheet by sheet.
8.4 The sampling position of mechanical property test shall be according to the
provisions of GB/T 2975. For steel plates with more than 40mm thickness, the axis of
impacting samples shall be at position of 1/4 thickness.

axis of impacting samples may be at position of 1/2 thickness.
8.5 When the results of impact test do not comply with the provisions of 6.4.1.3 of this
Standard, it shall take another 3 samples from the same sheet of steel plate (or the
same billet) to perform the test. The arithmetic mean of the impact absorption energy
of the 6 samples shall not be less than the specified value. It is allowed to have 2
samples to be less than the specified value, but only one of them is allowed to be less
than 70% of the specified value.
