Foreword
GB 5606 "Cigarettes" is divided into six parts.
- Part 1.Sampling;
- Part 2.Mark;
- Part 3.Technical requirements for packing, making, storage and transport;
- Part 4.Technical requirements for sense evaluation;
- Part 5.Mainstream smoke;
- Part 6.Quality evaluation.
This Part is Part 2 of GB 5606.
All technical contents of this Part are mandatory.
This Part replaces GB/T 5606.2-1996 "Cigarettes - Packing, marking, storage and
transport".
The main changes of this Part compared with GB/T 5606.2-1996 are as follows.
- CHANGE from a recommended standard to a mandatory standard;
- MODIFY the general conditions;
- ADD the marking requirements for the amount of carbon monoxide;
- ADD the inspection rules;
- MOVE "Storage and transportation" into GB 5606.3.
This Part was proposed by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Tobacco Standardization
Technical Committee (TC 144).
Drafting organizations of this Part. State Tobacco Monopoly Administration,
Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute of China National Tobacco Corporation.
The main drafters of this Part. Yu Mingfang, Hu Qingyuan, Lu Yimin, Qiu Longying,
Wu Dianxin, Chu Guohai, Sun Xianjun.
This standard replaces the standard previously issued as follows.

1 Scope
This Part of GB 5606 specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules for
cigarette packaging marks.
This Part applies to cigarettes.
2 Normative references
The clauses in the following documents become the clauses of this Part through
reference to this Part of GB 5606.For any referenced document with a date, all
subsequent amendments (excluding errata) or revisions are not applicable to this Part.
However, parties to an agreement based on this Part are encouraged to study whether
the latest versions of these documents can be used. For any referenced document
without a date, the latest version shall apply to this Part.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Part.
3.1
Warnings
The sentence "Smoking is harmful to health" stipulated in Article 18 of the Tobacco
Monopoly Law of the People's Republic of China.
3.2
Mark
A general term for various marks on the packaging used to identify the product and
its quality, quantity, characteristics, properties, usage methods. The mark can be
expressed in words, symbols, numbers, patterns and other forms.

4.2.6 Implemented standard number and production license number.
4.2.7 Packaging film packaging shall be accompanied by instructions that meet the
above requirements.
4.3 Cartons and packets
The following information shall be indicated on the cartons and packets. The content
indicated on the packaging film carton is determined by the manufacturer.
4.3.1 Trademarks and registered marks.
4.3.2 Enterprise name that complies with 4.1.2.
4.3.3 Number of cigarettes (pcs) and product barcode.
4.3.4 Tar content, expressed as ××mg or ×mg; nicotine content in smoke, expressed as
×.×mg; carbon monoxide content in smoke, expressed as ××mg or ×mg; the marking
shall be clearly contrasted with the background color; the height of the Chinese font
shall not be less than 2.0 mm.
4.3.5 A warning shall be indicated; the height of the Chinese warning font shall not be
less than 2.0 mm.
5 Test method
5.1 Take laboratory samples and prepare test samples according to GB/T 5606.1.
5.2 Test according to YC/T 28.1.
6 Inspection rules
6.1 Packaging mark quality defects are divided into two categories. A and B. Among
them, those that do not meet any of the requirements of 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.1.5, 4.3.4, 4.3.5
are category A quality defects; those that do not meet any of the other requirements are
category B quality defects.
6.2 If any category A quality defect occurs, the batch of cigarettes will be judged as
unqualified; the packaging mark score will be zero.
6.3 The unit deduction value of category B quality defect items for case, carton, packet
is given in Table 1.The number of quality defects multiplied by the unit deduction value
is equal to the quality defect deduction score of the item. The cigarette packaging mark
assessment is expressed in percentages; its score is 100 minus the sum of the deduction
