1 Scope
This Standard specifies the determination of nonfat milk solids in raw milk, pasteurized
milk, sterilized milk, prepared milk and fermented milk.
This Standard is applicable to the determination of nonfat milk solids in raw milk,
pasteurized milk, sterilized milk, prepared milk and fermented milk.
2 Normative References
The following documents are essential to the application of this Standard. For the dated
documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this Standard;
for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) are
applicable to this Standard.
3 Principle
Firstly, separately determine the total solid content and fat content (if adding the non-
dairy ingredients such as saccharose, it shall also be deducted) in the milk and milk
products. Secondly, the total solids are subtracted from the non-dairy ingredients such
as fat and saccharose; that is, the nonfat milk solid.
4 Reagents and Materials
Unless otherwise specified, the used reagents in this method are analytical reagents;
while the used water is Class-III water specified in GB/T 6682.
4.1 Flat-bottomed box: 20mm~25mm-heigh, 50mm~70mm-diameter stainless steel or
aluminum box with a stopper, or glass weighing bottle.
4.2 Short glass rod: suitable for the diameter of the above box, can be placed obliquely
in the box without affecting the lid.
4.3 Quartz sand or sea-sand: it can pass through a sieve with a pore size of 500µm,
