3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply to this part of
GB 5135.
3.1
water mist nozzle
It refers to the nozzle where the water flow is broke up into water drop at the diameter less
than 1mm under pressure in the setup area and sprayed out in the designed form.
3.2
spray angle
It refers to the vertex angle of the cone which makes the water mist sprayed out of water
mist nozzle extended by surrounding the axis of nozzle.
3.3
centrifugal spray
It refers to the mist sprayed out under the effect of centrifugal force from the rotatory water
flow that moves along the internal wall and that is broke down after the pressured water
flows through the nozzle.
3.4
impact spray
It refers to the mist formed from that the pressured water flow is broken up by impacting
with splash box.
3.5
effective range
It refers to the horizontal distance BETWEEN the highest point where water mist reaches
when the nozzle sprays horizontally AND the plane where the nozzle is located vertical to
the axis of nozzle.
3.6
spray height
It refers to the vertical distance BETWEEN the highest point where water mist reaches
when the nozzle sprays horizontally AND the axis of nozzle.
3.7
drop diameter Dv0.90
The drops of which such diameter or below accounting for the total volume of sprayed
water is 90%.
4 Classification and specification‐models
4.1 Classification
4.1.1 A-type water mist nozzle
The centrifugal spray nozzle whose water inlet and water outlet are formed into a certain
angle.
5.9 Sulfur dioxide corrosion resistance
5.9.1 Each part of water mist nozzle which has undergone the test in accordance with 6.9
shall be free of obvious corrosion marks.
5.9.2 The flow of the water mist nozzle, which has undergone the test above, measured
under the rated working pressure shall not be ±5% differing from the flow value measured
before corrosion test.
5.10 Salt-spray corrosion resistance
5.10.1 Each part of water mist nozzle which has undergone the test in accordance with
6.1 shall be free of obvious corrosion marks.
5.10.2 The flow of water mist nozzle, which has undergone the test above, measured
under the rated working pressure shall not be ±5% differing from the flow value measured
before corrosion test.
5.11 Low temperature resistance
The open-type water mist nozzle which has undergone the test in accordance with 6.11
shall not have cracked or detached coating or plating. The close-type water mist nozzle
shall comply with 6.17 of GB 5135.1-2003.
5.12 High temperature resistance
The water mist nozzle which has undergone the test in accordance with 6.12 shall be fre...
