Foreword
According to the requirements of the former Ministry of Construction "Notice on Printing and Publishing 'Development and Revision Plan of Engineering Construction Standard in 2007' (First Batch)" (Jian Biao [2007] No. 125), China Institute of Building Standard Design & Research and Sichuan Zhongguang High Science Industry Development Group completed this code based on the revision of "Technical Code for Protection of Building Electronic Information System Against Lightning" (GB 50343-2004). This code comprises 8 chapters and 6 appendixes, with the main technical contents including. general provisions, terms, division of lightning protection zone, classification of lightning protection level and risk assessment, lightning protection design, lightning protection construction, inspection and acceptance, and maintenance and management. Main contents revised for this code are as follows.
1. Some terms that are not used in the former code were deleted and explanations of the terms for correct understanding of this code were added. Besides, explanations of the terms maintained were adjusted.
2. Contents related to risk assessment based on risk management were added. Besides, specific assessment calculation methods for risk assessment based on risk management were added in the appendix.
3. Classification of lightning protection level was adjusted for various building electronic information systems in Table 4.3.1.
4. "Lightning protection design" in Chapter 5 was modified and supplemented. 5. Chapter 7 was renamed as "Inspection and Acceptance", of which the contents were adjusted.
6. Three appendixes were added ?€??€? Appendix B "risk assessment based on risk management", Appendix D "calculation of lightning magnetic strength" and Appendix E "test waveforms and parameters of signal SPD". Appendix F "The statistics table of average annual thunderstorm days for main cities in China" were modified according to the available latest data, which only lists the average annual thunderstorm days of municipalities, provincial capitals and some secondary cities. Appendix "acceptance testing table" in the former code was deleted.
7. 5.2.6 and 5.5.7-2 (5.4.10-2 in the former code) in this code were no longer regarded as the compulsory provisions.
The provisions printed in bold type in this code are compulsory ones and must be enforced strictly.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development is in charge of the administration of this code and the explanation of the compulsory provisions. Sichuan Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Department is responsible for the routine management and China Institute of Building Standard Design & Research and Zhongguang Lightning Protection Technologies Co., Ltd. are responsible for the explanation of specific technical contents. 1. General Provisions
1.0.1 This code is formulated with a view to preventing and reducing the damage caused by lightning on building electronic information system and protecting the safety of life and property.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the design, construction, acceptance, maintenance and management of constructed, renovated and extended protection of building electronic information system against lightning. This code is not applicable to the protection of building electronic information system against lightning in explosive and fire hazard environments. 1.0.3 Protection of building electronic information system against lightning shall adhere to the principle of prevention and safety first.
1.0.4 In the design for protection of building electronic information system against lightning, external and internal lightning protection measures shall be coordinated according to the characteristics of building electronic information system; an overall planning shall be made according to the whole engineering requirements to achieve safety and reliability, advanced technology as well as economy and rationality.
1.0.5 Comprehensive protection combining external and internal lightning protection measures shall be adopted in the building electronic information system. 1.0.6 Corresponding protective measures shall be taken for the building electronic information system according to environmental factors, lightning activity routines, the immunity of lightning protection zone (LPZ) and system (where equipment is located) against lightning electromagnetic impulse(LEMP), extent of damage in lightning stroke accidents as well as significance of system equipment.
1.0.7 Protection of building electronic information system against lightning shall not only comply with those specified in this code but also meet the requirements of the current relevant standards of the nation.
