Foreword
All the technical contents of this Part are mandatory.
GB 4706 Household and Similar Electrical Appliance – Safety consists of several parts;
the Part 1 is general requirements; other parts are particular requirements.
This Part shall be used in conjunction with GB 4706.1-2005 Household and Similar
Electrical Appliances – Safety - Part 1: General Requirements.
This Part equivalently adopts IEC 60335-2-41:2004 Household and Similar Electrical
Appliance – Safety – Part 2-41: Particular Requirements for Pumps.
For the benefit of use, this Part made the following editorial modifications against the
IEC 60335-2-41:
a) Change “Part 1” into “GB 4706.1-2005”;
b) Use “decimal point” to replace the “comma” that is used as decimal point.
This Part replaced GB 4706.66-2003 Safety of Household and Similar Electrical
Appliances - Particular Requirements for Pumps.
Compared with GB 4706.66-2003, the major differences of this Part are as follows:
--- Add shower-boost pumps and table fountain pumps in the scope of NOTE 1 of
Clause 1;
--- Add normative references in Clause 2;
--- Add the definition of 3.104 shower-boost pump in Clause 3;
--- Add the appliance type of the table fountain pump in 6.1;
--- Add the relevant contents of the shower-boost pumps in 6.2, 11.7, 15.1.1, 22.6;
--- Add sub-clauses 21.1 and 22.106.
This Part was proposed by China National Light Industry Council.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Household
Electric Appliances of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 46).

1 Scope
This clause of GB 4706.1-2005 is replaced by the following.
This Part deals with the safety of electric pumps for liquids having a temperature not
exceeding 90°C, intended for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage
being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances.
NOTE 1: Examples of appliances within the scope of this standard are:
– aquarium pumps;
– pumps for garden ponds;
– shower-boost pumps;
– sludge pumps;
– submersible pumps;
– table fountain pumps;
– vertical wet pit pumps.
Appliances not intended for normal household use, but that nevertheless may be a
source of danger to the public, such as appliances intended to be used by laymen in
shops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope of this standard.
As far as is practicable, this Part deals with the common hazards presented by
appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home.
However, in general, it does not take into account:
– the use of appliances by young children or infirm persons without supervision;
– playing with the appliance by young children.
NOTE 2: Attention is drawn to the fact that:
– for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on-board ships or aircraft, additional
