1. Change Clause 2 "Definition" into Clause 2 "Normative References"; change
Clause 3 "General Requirements" into Clause 3 "Definition"; change Clause 4
"General Conditions of Tests" into Clause 4 "General Requirements"; change
Clause 5 "Void" into Clause 5 "General Conditions of Tests".
2. In Clause 3, add the definition of tumble dryer; and the definition of exhaust type
tumble dryer is limited to condensing tumble dryer.
3. In Clause 7, add the content of 7.6; and add the requirement for the description
of 7.6 symbols in 7.12; add the requirements of “it is not allowed to emit gas to
the flue of the burning gas or appliances of other materials” in 7.12.1; add the
content of 7.102.
4. Add Clause14 "Transient Overvoltage".
5. In Clause 19, add the requirements of “it is a more unfavourable working condition
for the appliance connected to the water source, if it works without water. The
test is carried out with the water inlet valve closed. This Water inlet valve shall
not be closed after the appliance starts to operate” in 19.1. Add the requirements
of “for the condensing tumble dryer, repeat the test; but 75% of the condenser

1 Scope
This clause of GB 4706.1 is replaced by the following.
This International Standard deals with the safety of electric tumble dryers intended for
household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for
single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances.
NOTE 101: This Part applies to the drying function of washing machines having a drying cycle.
Appliances not intended for normal household use but which nevertheless may be a
source of danger to the public, such as appliances intended to be used by laymen in
shops, in light industry and on farms are within the scope of this Part.
NOTE 102: Examples of such appliances are tumble dryers for communal use in blocks of flats
