Chapter 4 and 5 of this Standard are mandatory, the rest are recommendatory. This Standard is not equivalent to American Society for Testing and Materials Standard’s ASTMD 910-04a Standard Specification for Aviation Gasoline.
This Standard replaces GB 1787-1979 Aviation gasoline. Comparing with GB 1787-1979, main changes of this Standard are as follows.
— Add “Normative references” in chapter 2;
— Add test methods such as density, oxidation stability, aromatic and water reaction indicators into Table 1;
— Change the crystallization point to freezing point;
— Change the determination of distillation range as specified in GB/T 6536. Add the sum of 40% evaporating temperature; end point of distillation; and 10% and 50% evaporating temperature;
— Add test methods. GB/T 11140 Petroleum products - Determination of sulfur (X-ray spectrometry method); GB/T 17040 Petroleum products - Determination of sulfur (Energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy method); SH/T 0253 Light petroleum products - Determination of sulphur content (Coulometric method); SH/T 0689 Standard test method for determination of total sulfur in light hydrocarbons motor fuels and oils (ultraviolet fluorescence method); and GB/T 8019 Motor gasoline and aviation fuels - Determination of existent gum (Jet evaporation method); — Add “Classification and marking” in chapter 3;
— Add “Inspection rules” in chapter 5.
This Standard is proposed by National Technical Committee (SAC/TC 280) on Petroleum Products and Lubricants of Standardization Administration of China.
This Standard is under the jurisdiction of China Petrochemical Corporation. The responsible drafting organizations are SINOPEC CORP. Research Institute of Petroleum Processing and CNPC Lanzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd.
The chief drafting staffs of this Standard include Gong Dongmei, Tao Zhiping, Zhao Liping, Cui Wenfeng, Feng Shaoyan.
This Standard was first-time issued in 1979. This release is the first revision. Aviation piston engine fuels
This Standard specifies the classification and labeling, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of aviation piston engine fuel which is produced from the specified national-certified raw material and process; and added with appropriate additive.
This product is applicable to aviation piston engine.

3 Classification and marking
3.1 Product category
Aviation piston engine fuel is divided into grade 75, grade 95 and grade 100 according to different motor octane value.
3.2 Product marking
Aviation fuel which complies with the technical requirements in Table 1 of this Standard shall be marked as. "Grade 75 aviation piston engine fuels", "Grade 95 aviation piston engine fuels" or "Grade 100 aviation piston engine fuels".
4 Requirements and test methods
Technical requirements and test methods for aviation piston engine fuels are shown in Table 1.
shall be taken from each batch of products for inspection and sample reservation. 10L oil sample of Grade 95 or Grade 100 shall be taken from each batch of products for inspection and sample reservation.
5.4 Determination rules
Out-of-factory inspection results shall be fully qualified before products may leave the factory.
5.5 Re-inspection rules
If the out-of-factory inspection results do not meet the provisions in Table 1, double samples shall be taken for re-inspection - according to the provisions of GB/T 4756. If one item [Translator. or more items] of the re-inspection results still does not meet the provisions in Table 1, then the batch of the product is determined unqualified. 6 Marking, packaging, transportation and storage
Marking, packaging, transportation, storage and delivery inspection shall be conducted in accordance with SH 0164.
