Scope

This clause of GB 14536.1 is applicable except as follows:
1.1 Replacement:
This Part applies to electric actuators for use in, on, or in association with equipment
for household and similar use for heating, air-conditioning and ventilation. The
equipment may use electricity, gas, oil, solid fuel, solar thermal energy, etc., or a
combination thereof.
This Part applies to electric actuators using NTC or PTC thermistors, additional
requirements for which are contained in annex J.
1.1.1 This Part applies to the inherent safety, to the operating values, operating times
and operating sequences where such are associated with equipment safety and to the
testing of electric actuators used in, on or in association with, equipment for household
and similar use for heating, air-conditioning and ventilation.
NOTE 1 Requirements for specific operating values, operating times and operating
sequences may be given in the standards for appliances and equipment.
NOTE Throughout this Part the word "equipment" means "appliance and equipment".
Electric actuators for equipment not intended for normal household use, but which
nevertheless may be used by the public, such as equipment intended to be used by
laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope of this Part.
This Part does not apply to electric actuators designed exclusively for industrial
applications.
This Part does not apply to electric actuators which are mechanically integral with
valves.
NOTE See GB 14536.9, Particular requirements for electrically operated valves, including
mechanical requirements and GB 14536.19, Particular requirements for electrically
operated gas valves.
This Part does not apply to electric motors, requirements for which are contained in
IEC 60034.
