Scope

This Part specifies the content such as determination principle, determination procedures,
and result calculation of methylene blue absorption of granular activated carbon from coal.
This section applies to the determination of methylene blue absorption of granular
activated carbon from coal and also applies to powdered activated carbon from coal.

8.4 If it is beyond the above range, it shall adjust the milliliters added to methylene blue
solution; repeat the operation in 8.1 to 8.3, until it meets requirements.
9  Result calculations
Methylene blue absorption, in E, its value is expressed in milligrams per gram (mg/g), is
calculated according to Formula (3).

ρ — Concentration of methylene blue solution, in milligrams per milliliter (mg/mL);
V — Volume of consumed methylene blue solution for sample determination, in
milliliters (mL);
m — Mass of test sample, in grams (g).
10 Precision
For each sample, make parallel determination of two test portions. The difference shall not
be greater than 8 mg/g. The results are expressed in arithmetic mean value. Calculation
results shall be accurate to integer.
11 Test report
Test report shall include the following aspects.
a) Serial number of test sample;
b) Standard used;
c) Method used;
d) Test item;
e) Test results;
f) Testing personnel;
g) Test date.
