Scope

This standard specifies the dimensions, shape, weight, technical requirements,
test methods, inspection rules, markings, packaging and quality certificates for
longitudinal submerged arc welded steel tubes for structural purpose.
This standard is applicable to longitudinal submerged arc welded steel tubes,
which have an outer diameter not less than 400 mm, for buildings, bridges,
towers, piles, struts and other general structures (hereinafter referred to as
“steel tubes”). It is not applicable to steel tubes for mechanical structures.
