Inorganic chemicals for industrial use – General method
for the determination of water insoluble matter
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the method summary, reagents and materials,
instruments and apparatuses, analysis steps, and result calculation FOR
inorganic chemicals for industrial use – general method for the determination of
water insoluble matter.
This Standard applies to the determination of water insoluble matter content in
inorganic chemical products. This Standard specifies the sand glass crucible
method for the determination of non-alkaline water insoluble matter. When
using this Standard to determine the water insoluble matter, the insoluble
matter’s mass that is obtained by the calculation of sample size and
specification value MUST not be less than 1 mg.
2 Normative references
The following standards contain the provisions which, through reference in this
Standard, constitute the provisions of this Standard. For dated references, the
subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to
this Standard. However, the parties who enter into agreement based on this
Standard are encouraged to investigate whether the latest versions of these
documents are applicable. For undated reference documents, the latest
versions apply to this Standard.
GB/T 6682-2008 Water for analytical laboratory use - Specification and test
methods (ISO 3696.1987, MOD)
3 Method summary
User water to dissolve the sample; adopt a suitable method to filter out the
insoluble matter; use water to wash the residue, so that it is completely
separated from the sample-body; after drying, use balance to weigh the mass
of insoluble matter.
Appendix A
(Informative)
Pretreatment of sand glass crucible
A.1 Sand glass crucible is placed in 250 mL beaker; add hydrochloric acid
solution (1 + 1) to completely immerse the sand glass crucible (it may also add
nitric or sulfuric acid solution according to product standards); boil for 5 min -
10 min on electric furnace; cool down; hydrochloric acid is poured completely
into waste collection bottle; then, add water until the sand glass crucible is
completely submerged; boiled for 5 min - 10 min on electric furnace; cool down;
take out for later use.
A.2 Sand glass crucible is placed on a sand filter flask; use hydrochloric acid
solution (1+1) to wash (it may also add nitric or sulfuric acid solution according
to product standards); then, use water to wash until that, using the wide-range
pH test paper to detect, the eluent is near to neutral.
