General specification for children’s case and bag
1 Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, product classification, technical
requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, labeling, packaging,
transportation and storage for children’s case and bag.
This document applies to case and bag products intended for children under the age of
14.

3.3 Hazardous sharp edge
Accessible edges that are likely to cause unreasonable harm to a child during normal
use or reasonably foreseeable abuse.

use or reasonably foreseeable abuse.

3.5 Pulling rope
Ropes, drawstrings, etc. – made of various textile or non-textile materials, of a certain
length – designed for adults to pull children to prevent children from getting lost.
3.6 Reasonably foreseeable abuse
Case and bag are used under conditions not recommended by the supplier, or for
purposes not recommended by the supplier, which, however, may happen; this is caused
by the combination of the case and bag and the normal behavior of children, or only by
the normal behavior of children.
Examples: beating, biting, repeatedly opening and closing case and bag, etc.

3.7 Pompom
A ball combed and formed from long or multiple strands of fiber or cords winding the
center.

3.8 Reflective fabrics
Textiles – combined by reflective material with textile base material – which have
strong retroreflective performance under the light source.

4 Product classification
According to the age of the target users, it is divided into the following three classes:
-- Class I: case and bag for infants and children aged 36 months or below;
-- Class II: case and bag for children aged from 36 months (included) to 6 years;
-- Class III: case and bag for children aged from 6 years (included) to 14 years.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 General
5.1.1 Pattern or LOGO
The pattern or LOGO design on the case and bag shall help guide children to establish
correct values and outlook on life, and create a good educational atmosphere.
5.1.2 Ergonomics (backpack)
The design of children’s backpacks should take the user characteristics and the use
situation into consideration, to achieve the goals of safety, health, efficiency and
comfort. The main ergonomic design principles include the following.
-- Human-machine geometric adaptability: The overall appearance of the backpack,
and the structural dimensions of the shoulder straps and related accessories shall
match the body dimensions of Chinese children of the corresponding age group
(GB/T 26158-2010), and should be designed accordingly and adjustably for
children of different ages and different school ages, so as to match the body
structure of different children.
-- Mechanical load suitability: The designed load-bearing capacity of the backpack
and the control force of the control components shall not exceed the children’s
strength limit; the design of the backpack’s structural size, strap position layout,
material hardness and cushioning should take into account the children’s pressure
comfort of the waist, back, shoulders, etc. under the carrying state.
-- Effect on body balance: Maintain carrying stability under static and dynamic states,
as well as special usage scenarios.
-- Ease of use: The user interface for opening, locking, adjusting, information display
and feedback, terminology and graphic symbols of the backpack shall be simple,
easy-to-understand, easy-to-learn, efficient and easy-to-operate.
5.2 Raw materials and accessories
6 Test methods
6.1 Raw materials and accessories
Before processing and production, inspection shall be carried out according to relevant
standards.
6.2 Chemical properties
Inspect according to the methods specified in GB 20400, GB 21550, GB 31701, GB
18401.
Short-chain chlorinated paraffins: Leather, fur, and regenerated leather materials shall
be tested according to the regulations of GB/T 38405; fabric materials shall be tested
according to the regulations of GB/T 40263; artificial leather/synthetic leather and
plastic materials shall be tested according to the regulations of SN/T 3814. When the
user can prove that GB/T 38405 has the same test results as GB/T 40263 and SN/T 3814
in the determination of fabrics, artificial leather/synthetic leather, and plastic materials,
the method can also be used. In the event of disputes or arbitration, the test results of
GB/T 40263 and SN/T 3814 shall prevail.
Phthalates: Leather, fur, regenerated leather, artificial leather/synthetic leather materials
shall be tested according to GB/T 22931; fabric materials shall be tested according to
GB/T 20388; plastic materials shall be tested according to GB/T 29608.
6.3 Appearance quality
Under natural light, use visual inspection, sensory inspection and combined measuring
scale inspection; the division value of the measuring scale is 1 mm.
6.4 Color fastness to saliva
Perform the test according to GB/T 18886.
6.5 Color fastness to alkali perspiration

1 Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, product classification, technical
requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, labeling, packaging,
transportation and storage for children’s case and bag.
This document applies to case and bag products intended for children under the age of
14.

4 Product classification

5 Technical requirements
5.1 General

Before processing and production, inspection shall be carried out according to relevant
standards.
6.2 Chemical properties
Inspect according to the methods specified in GB 20400, GB 21550, GB 31701, GB
18401.
Short-chain chlorinated paraffins: Leather, fur, and regenerated leather materials shall
be tested according to the regulations of GB/T 38405; fabric materials shall be tested
according to the regulations of GB/T 40263; artificial leather/synthetic leather and
plastic materials shall be tested according to the regulations of SN/T 3814. When the
user can prove that GB/T 38405 has the same test results as GB/T 40263 and SN/T 3814
in the determination of fabrics, artificial leather/synthetic leather, and plastic materials,
the method can also be used. In the event of disputes or arbitration, the test results of
GB/T 40263 and SN/T 3814 shall prevail.

shall be tested according to GB/T 22931; fabric materials shall be tested according to
GB/T 20388; plastic materials shall be tested according to GB/T 29608.
6.3 Appearance quality
