1 Scope
This standard specifies the quality evaluation method for cigarettes.
This part is applicable to cigarettes.
2 Normative References

apply. However, all parties coming to an agreement according to this standard are encouraged

3 Quality Evaluation
3.1 Inspection classification
The cigarette inspection is classified into type inspection, leave factory inspection and
supervision inspection. All items shall be inspected with respect to type inspection; the quality
defect item of Categories A and B shall be inspected with respect to supervision inspection in
the case of no special provision; the inspection items are determined by the producer
according to the quality control requirement with respect to leave factory inspection, for the
purpose of guaranteeing product quality, at least all Category A quality defect items of shall
be inspected.
3.2 Mark
3.2.1 The mark quality defect is classified into Category A and Category B, and the mark
includes general requirements and the corresponding mark requirements for different packs
(such as case, carton and packet); the above mark shall be inspected according to GB 5606.2.
3.2.2 In case that any Category A quality defect item is inspected, this lot of cigarettes will
be regard as rejected and mark score is zero.
3.2.3 The unit deduction value (case, carton and packet) for Category B quality defect item
is provided in Table 1.Deduction value of quality defect item is calculated by quality defect
quantity for such item being multiplied by unit deduction value. The mark evaluation is
expressed with centesimal system, so the score is obtained by 100 subtracting the total
deduction value of all quality defects; such score will be replaced by zero in case of minus.
3.3 Packing and making quality
3.3.1 Packing and making quality includes casing, cartoning, packeting, appearance,
extinguish, moisture content, circle, length, draw resistance, mass, hardness, dust content,
content of loss of tobacco from the ends and degree of total ventilation; which shall be
inspected according to GB 5606.3.
3.3.2 The Packing and making quality defect is classified into Categories A, B and C. The
unit deduction value for Category A quality defect of is provided in Table 2 and those of
Categories B and C are provided in Table 3.
3.3.3 Deduction value of quality defect item is calculated by quality defect quantity for such
item being multiplied by total unit deduction value. The mark evaluation is expressed with
centesimal system, so the score is obtained by 100 subtracting the total deduction value of all
quality defects; such score will be replaced by zero in case of minus.
3.3.4 In case that the score for packing and making quality is less than 60, such lot of
cigarettes will be judged as rejected.
3.5.2.5 In the case that catrame per packet is not less than 11mg, if |measured catrame -
catrame per packet|≤ 2.5mg, it is scored according to the catrame grade; otherwise the score
is zero and this lot of cigarettes will be judged as rejected.
3.5.3 Nicotine quantity
3.5.3.1 The centesimal system shall be adopted for the nicotine quantity evaluation.
3.5.3.2 In case that the nicotine quantity per packet is not more than 0.4mg, if|measured
nicotine quantity - nicotine quantity per packet|≤0.10mg, the score is 100; otherwise zero.
3.5.3.3 In case that the nicotine quantity per packet is within 0.5~1.0mg, if|measured
nicotine quantity - nicotine quantity per packet|≤0.20mg, the score is 100; otherwise zero.
3.5.3.4 In case that the nicotine quantity per packet is not less than 1.1mg, if|measured
nicotine quantity - nicotine quantity per packet|≤0.30mg, the score is 100; otherwise zero.
3.5.4 CO quantity in smoke
3.5.4.1 The CO quantity grade and corresponding CO quantity per packet are provided in
Table 6.
3.5.4.2 The centesimal system is adopted for CO quantity evaluation. The score for low,
medium and high grade are 100, 80 and 50 respectively.
3.5.4.3 In case that the CO quantity per packet is not more than 4mg, if|measured nicotine
- nicotine per packet|≤1.0mg, it is scored according to the CO quantity grade; otherwise the
score is zero.
3.5.4.4 In case that the CO quantity per packet is within 5~10mg, if|measured nicotine -
nicotine per packet|≤2.0mg, it is scored according to the CO quantity grade; otherwise the
score is zero.
3.5.4.5 In case that the CO quantity per packet is not less than 11mg, if|measured nicotine
- nicotine per packet|≤3.0mg, it is scored according to the CO quantity grade; otherwise the
score is zero.
3.6 Total score for cigarette quality evaluation
3.6.1 Total score for cigarette quality evaluation shall be calculated according to Formula
(1).
