Oil-free Reciprocating Air Compressor
on Locomotives and Power Cars
1 Application Scope
This Standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking,
packaging and storage of air-cooling, single-stage, single-action, direct-drive oil-free
reciprocating air compressors (hereinafter referred to as “air compressors”) used on
the pantograph system of locomotives and power cars.
This Standard applies to air compressors used on the pantograph system of
locomotives and power cars, whose rated discharge pressure is not greater than 1.0
MPa.

3 Requirements
3.1 General requirements
3.1.1 Air compressors shall comply with this Standard; they shall be manufactured in
accordance with the drawings and technical documents which are approved through
specified procedures.
3.1.2 Specified operating conditions of air compressors
a) suction pressure. 0.1 MPa (absolute pressure);
b) suction temperature. 20°C;
c) suction relative humidity. 0;
d) rated discharge pressure. 0.8 MPa;
e) operating voltage. DC 110 V;
f) rotational speed. as specified in the product technical documents, expressed in
r/min.
3.1.3 Air compressors shall be capable of operating normally under the following
service environmental conditions.
a) the altitude not more than 2 500 m;
4.1.2 The testing of the input specific power of air compressors shall be conducted
as specified in GB 19153.
4.1.3 The testing of the noise power level of air compressors shall be conducted as
specified in GB/T 4980.
4.1.4 The testing of the mechanical vibration intensity of air compressors shall be
conducted as specified in GB/T 7777.
4.2 Environment adaptation
4.2.1 High-temperature test
4.2.1.1 After storing air compressors for 2 h under the environmental conditions of
40°C, start the machine for continuous operation for 2 h. the operating voltage during
operation is DC 110 V and the discharge pressure is the rated discharge pressure.
Measure the discharge temperature of air compressors at this moment, which shall be
as specified in this Standard.
4.2.1.2 Install the air compressors under the environmental conditions of 70°C which
are installed inside the car body in actual use or install the air compressors under the
environmental conditions of 50°C which are installed inside the car body; store for 2 h;
start the machine to run continuously for 10 min. the operating voltage during operating
is DC 110 V and the discharge pressure is the rated discharge pressure. Measure the
discharge temperature of air compressors at this moment, which shall be as specified
in this Standard.
4.2.2 Low-temperature test
After storing air compressors for 2 h under the environmental conditions of - 40°C, air
compressors shall be capable of being started normally under the operating voltage of
DC 77 V and operating continuously for 1 h under the rated discharge pressure.
4.2.3 High-altitude test
The test shall be conducted in areas of altitude 2 500 m or simulated in a low air
pressure testing chamber in the library. The environmental pressure of the testing
chamber during the simulation test is 75 kPa. The test time is 30 min; air compressors
shall be capable of operating normally under the rated pressure ratio.
4.2.4 Impact and vibration test
Conduct impact and vibration test for the air compressors in accordance with the
provisions for equipment class A, category 1 specified in GB/T 21563-2008. Conduct
inspection for the connectors and appearance after test. Operate continuously for 2 h
under the rated discharge pressure, no abnormality shall occur during operation.
