The reagents used are as follows.
a) Hydrochloric acid solution. Take 234 mL of concentrated hydrochloric acid. Add
water and dilute to 1000 mL;
b) Sodium metabisulfite solution. 7.5% (mass fraction);
c) Decolorized parafuchsin solution. Take 0.1 g of parafuchsin hydrochloride (C19
H18ClN3) and place it in a 250 mL stoppered Erlenmeyer flask. Add 60 mL of
water. Add 10 mL of 7.5% sodium metabisulfite solution [6.13.1b)]. Add 4.5 mL
of hydrochloric acid solution [6.13.1a)] with gentle stirring. Add the stopper and
shake until it is completely dissolved. Add water to 100 mL. Shake well. Leave
for 12 h before use;
d) Reference solution. formaldehyde (CH2O) aqueous solution, ρ =5.0 μg/mL.
6.13.2 Instruments
Colorimetric tube with stopper. 50 mL.
6.13.3 Procedure
Take 3.75 g of the specimen and place it in the colorimetric tube (6.13.2). Add water to
15 mL. Mix well. Add 1.0 mL of decolorized parafuchsin solution [6.13.1c)]. Mix well.
Leave it sealed in place for 1 h.
Take 7.5 mL of the reference solution [6.13.1d)] and process it in the same way. If the
reference solution does not appear red, the test is invalid.
Compare the color of the sample solution with that of the control solution. The color of
the sample solution shall not be darker than the color of the reference solution.

heavy metal content, sulfated ash content, and diethylene glycol content.
7.1.2 Type inspection
The type inspection items include all items specified in Chapter 5.Type inspection shall
be carried out under the following circumstances.
a) During normal production, type inspection shall be conducted every 3 months;
b) When production processes, production equipment, raw materials, catalysts, etc.
change or become abnormal, as well as changes in production management
elements (including personnel quality) that may affect product quality and
performance;
c) When production is resumed after a long-term suspension;
