Foreword
All the technical contents in this Part are mandatory.
GB 4706 Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety consists of several
parts; the Part 1 belongs to General Requirements; while the other parts belong to
Particular Requirements.
This Part shall be used in conjunction with GB 4706.1-2005 Household and Similar
Electrical Appliances – Safety – Part 1: General Requirements.
This Part equivalently adopts IEC 60335-2-75: 2002 Household and Similar Electrical
Appliances – Safety – Part 2-75: Particular Requirements for Commercial Dispensing
Appliances and Vending Machines and its Amendment 1 (2004).
For the benefit of use, this Part makes the following editorial modifications against the
IEC 60335-2-75:
a) Modify “Part 1” into “GB 4706.1”;
b) Use decimal point “.” to replace comma “,” serving as decimal point.
This Part replaced GB 4706.72-2003 Safety of Household and Similar Electrical
Appliances - Particular Requirements for Commercial Dispensing Appliances and
Vending Machines.
The major differences between this Part and GB 4706.72-2003 are as follows:
--- For the Clause 1, add coffee grinders in NOTE 101; delete the NOTE 3 of GB
4706.72-2003; delete the “particular requirements may be required for the
instruments prepared to be used in the tropical countries.” in NOTE 4 of GB
4706.72-2003; add appliances for industrial use to NOTE 104;
--- Modify the definition and note of the maintenance operation in 3.8.5;
--- Add the definition of potentially dangerous foods and NOTE 1, NOTE 2, NOTE 3
in 3.114; Clause 3 of GB 4706.72-2003 does not have the requirements for the
above sub-clauses;
--- Add “If performing the test of 15.102, then 3 additional samples are needed” in
5.2; delete the original contents;
--- Delete the rated pressure and maximum static water pressure with indicating unit
bar of the appliance stipulated in GB 4706.72-2003 from 7.1;
--- 7.12.1 is added contents; such sub-clause of GB 4706.72-2003 is a substitute
content;
--- Add “installation instructions shall provide the maximum and minimum ambient
temperature suitable for the operation” in 7.12.1;
--- Add “including how to use the access key and override key” in 7.12.101;
--- Add “maintenance instructions shall provide detailed cleaning methods and
frequency”, “recommended to list the cleaning or disinfecting agents” in
7.12.101.1;
--- Add the content of 7.12.101.6; Clause 7 of GB 4706.72-2003 does not have the
requirements for the above sub-clause;
--- Add the content of 7.12.101.7; Clause 7 of GB 4706.72-2003 does not have the
requirements for the above sub-clause;
--- Add the content of 7.12.102; Clause 7 of GB 4706.72-2003 does not have the
requirements for the above sub-clause;
--- Delete the installation requirements for embedded appliances and fixtures
normally fixed to a side wall stipulated in GB 4706.72-2003 from 11.2;
--- Delete “uncooled part working in the standby mode” stipulated in GB 4706.72-
2003 from 11.101;
--- Modify the irritation time into 1min in 15.2.102;
--- Modify the dumping mode into “fast” in 15.2.107;
--- Add the test requirements for the open appliances in 15.2.108;
--- Modify the dumping mode into “fast” in 15.2.109;
--- Add “determine whether it is qualified by performing the following tests on the 3
additional samples”, and modify the test content in 15.102;
--- Delete the test content of PTC heating element stipulated in GB 4706.72-2003,
retain the NOTE in 19.6;
--- Add “if the main contact of the connector is used to excite the electric heating
element, it will be locked in the ON position” to NOTE 2 of 19.101; Clause 19 of
GB 4706.72-2003 does not have the requirements for the above sub-clauses;
--- Delete 19.102 in GB 4706.72-2003;
--- Modify the user area impact energy into 1.0J in 21.1;
--- Delete NOTE 3 of GB 4706.72-2003 in 22.7;
--- Delete 22.106 of GB 4706.72-2003;
--- Add the contents of 22.111~22.113; Clause 22 of GB 4706.72-2003 does not
have the requirements for the above sub-clause;
--- Add the content of 29.2; Clause 29 of GB 4706.72-2003 does not have the
requirements for such sub-clause;
--- Delete 30.3 of GB 4706.72-2003.
Annex AA of this Part is normative.

1 Scope
This clause of GB 4706.1-2005 is replaced by the following.
This Part of GB 4706 specifies the safety for commercial dispensing appliances and
vending machines of the household and similar electrical appliances.
This Part is applicable to the commercial dispensing appliances and vending machines
for preparation or delivery of food, drinks and consumer products, their rated voltage
being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances.
NOTE 101: Examples of appliances that are within the scope of this Part are:
– bulk tea or coffee brewing machines;
– cigarette vending machines;
– commercial liquid heaters;
