EVA hot-melt adhesives
1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules,
labeling, packaging, transportation, and storage of EVA hot-melt adhesives made by
melting and mixing ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA resin) with tackifying
resins, additives, and other compounding agents.
This standard applies to EVA hot-melt adhesives for applications such as wireless
binding, household appliances, packaging, and pipeline anticorrosion.
2 Normative references
The provisions in the following documents become the provisions of this standard
through reference in this standard. For the dated references, the subsequent amendments
(excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this standard, however, parties who
reach an agreement based on this standard are encouraged to study if the latest versions
of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the
referenced document applies to this standard.

4 Test method
4.1 Appearance
Visual inspection.
4.2 Determination of melt viscosity
It shall be carried out according to method A of HG/T 3660, and the test temperature is
(180 °C±1 °C).
4.3 Determination of softening point
It shall be carried out according to the provisions of GB/T 15332.
4.4 Determination of thermal stability
It shall be carried out according to the provisions of GB/T 16998.
4.5 Determination of tensile strength and elongation at break
It shall be carried out according to GB/T 528 regulations. The sample shall be processed
by compression molding, and it shall be a type I sample. The tensile speed of the tensile
testing machine is (500±50) mm/min.
4.6 Determination of hardness
It shall be carried out according to the provisions of GB/T 531.
4.7 Determination of brittleness temperature
It shall be carried out according to the provisions of GB/T 1682.
5 Inspection rules
5.1 Inspection classification
Products must pass the inspection performed by the quality inspection department of
the enterprise in accordance with this standard before leaving the factory, and the
product certificate must be attached.
Product inspection is divided into two categories: factory inspection and type inspection.
5.2 Factory inspection
Factory inspection items:
-- Appearance.
-- Melt viscosity.
-- Softening Point.
-- Tensile strength.
-- Elongation at break.
-- Hardness.
5.3 Type inspection
The type inspection items are all items specified in Chapter 3.
In case of any of the following situations, type inspection shall be carried out:
-- After one year of normal production, or when there are major changes in formula
and process, which may affect the quality.
-- When production is resumed after suspension of production for more than half a
year.
-- When the national quality supervision agency or the user makes a request.
5.4 Sampling and inspection
5.4.1 Batch formation
The product produced by each pot is a batch, and several pots of the same model can
be evenly mixed to form a batch. The melt viscosity index of the product shall meet the
standard requirements when mixing.
5.4.2 Sampling method
The sampling number shall be in accordance with the provisions of Table 2 in GB/T
6678. When the number of units of the overall material is greater than 500, the sampling
number shall be calculated as three times the cube root of the overall unit number, that
is, 3×√𝑁య (N is the overall unit number); in case of a decimal, it shall be rounded to an
integer. The sampling method shall be carried out according to the provisions of GB/T
6679. The sample bag shall be placed in a flat position, the sampler is inserted obliquely
from one side of the bag mouth to take samples at three-quarters of the diagonal. The
sampling volume of each batch shall not be less than 1.0 kg.
