Ethanol for industrial use
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 394 specifies the requirements, analysis methods, inspection
rules and labels, packaging, transportation and storage of ethanol for industrial
use.
This Part applies to ethanol for industrial use that is produced by fermentation,
not to edible alcohol.
2 Normative references
The terms in the following documents become the terms of this Part by
reference to this Part of GB/T 394. For dated references, all subsequent
amendments (not including errata content) or revisions do not apply to this Part.
However, parties to agreements that are based on this Part are encouraged to
study whether the latest versions of these documents can be used. For undated
references, the latest edition applies to this Part.

3 Requirements
Sensory and physical and chemical requirements shall meet the requirements
of Table 1.

5.2.3 Take 2 L of samples from each batch; mix well; put them into two brown
narrow-mouth reagent bottles; immediately label them; indicate: sample name,
batch number (tank, tank car, barrel number), grade, sampling time and place,
sampling personnel. Inspect one bottle; keep the other bottle for two months for
inspection.
5.3 Inspection classification
5.3.1 Delivery inspection
5.3.1.1 Before the products leave the factory, the quality supervision and
inspection department of the manufacturer shall carry out inspections in
batches in accordance with the provisions of this Part. Only products which
pass the inspection and are attached with the certificate of quality conformity
can be delivered.
5.3.1.2 Inspection items: appearance, odor, color, ethanol, sulfuric acid test
chroma, oxidation time, aldehyde, isobutanol + isoamyl alcohol and methanol.
5.3.2 Type inspection
5.3.2.1 Inspection items: all required items in this Part.
5.3.2.2 In general, the type inspection of the same type of products is carried
out every six months; with any of the following conditions, it shall also be carried
out:
a) when there are major changes in raw and auxiliary materials;
b) when there are changes in critical processes or equipment;
c) when the production of a new trial product or a normal production product,
which has been stopped for 3 months, is resumed;
d) when the factory inspection is significantly different from the previous type
inspection result;
e) when the national quality supervision and inspection institution carries out
a spot inspection according to relevant regulations.
5.4 Decision rules
5.4.1 When there are indicators in the test results that do not meet the
requirements of this Part, double samples shall be taken from the same batch
of products for re-inspection, and the re-inspection results shall prevail.
5.4.2 When there is still one (or more) failures in the re-inspection result, the
whole batch of products is judged as unqualified.
