Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard uses translation method and identically adopts ISO 21180.2013
Light conveyor belts - Determination of the maximum tensile strength (English
version).
The Chinese document which has consistency with the international normative
reference in this Standard is as follows.
GB/T 30691-2014 Conveyor belts - Test atmospheres and conditioning periods
(ISO 18573.2012, IDT).
This Standard makes the following editorial modifications.
- deleted subclause 6.1 in ISO 21180.2013.
This Standard was proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of Sub-committee on Conveyor
Belts of National Technical Committee on Pulley and Belt of Standardization
Administration of China (SAC/TC 428/SC 1).

Light conveyor belts –
Determination of the maximum tensile strength
1 Scope
This Standard specifies a test method for the determination of the maximum
tensile strength of light conveyor belts, according to ISO 21183-1.
This Standard is applicable to the light conveyor belts specified in ISO 21183-
1. This Standard is not applicable to the conveyor belts in ISO 283 application
scope.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of
this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated
references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any
amendments) applies.
ISO 7500-1, Metallic materials - Verification of static uniaxial testing
machines - Part 1. Tension/compression testing machines - Verification and
calibration of the force-measuring system
ISO 18573, Conveyor belts - Test atmospheres and conditioning periods
3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 tensile load
force per unit of belt width, expressed in newtons per millimeter (N/mm)
NOTE 1 In light conveyor belt technology, the definition of tensile load deviates from that
commonly used. It is measured in force per unit of belt width, in newtons per millimeter,
while normally it is defined as a stress, i.e. a force per unit of cross section, in newtons per
square millimeter (N/mm2).
NOTE 2 In light conveyor belt technology, the symbol for the tensile load is k and the
maximum tensile strength is designated as kmax, expressed in newtons per millimeter
(N/mm).
