Heat Pump Water Heater for Household and Similar
Application
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, product classification, technical requirements,
test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of heat pump
water heater for household and similar application (hereinafter referred to as heat pump water
heater).
This Standard is applicable to heat pump water heater for household and similar application
driven by electric motors, using vapor compression refrigeration cycle, and air or water as the
heat source, and for the purpose of providing hot water. Heat pump water heaters with other
heat sources or purposes may take this as a reference.
This Standard does not apply to industrial heat pump water heaters.

Auxiliary heat source refers to a heat source other than the heat pump used to heat the water in
the heat pump water heater, and can be used together with the heat pump or used separately for
heating.
NOTE: auxiliary heat sources include heat sources formed by heating using electric energy, gas
and solar energy, etc.
3.8 packaged heat pump water heater
Packaged heat pump water heater refers to a heat pump water heater with the main components,
such as: compressor, evaporator, condenser and water tank, in the same tank body.
3.9 split-type heat pump water heater
Split-type heat pump water heater refers to a heat pump water heater with the main components,
such as: compressor, evaporator, condenser and water tank, not in the same tank body.
3.10 water-loop heat pump water heater
Water-loop heat pump water heater refers to a heat pump water heater using water that circulates
through a common pipeline as the heat source.
3.11 ground-water heat pump water heater
Ground-water heat pump water heater refers to a heat pump water heater using water drawn
from wells, lakes, seas or rivers as the heat source.
3.12 ground-loop heat pump water heater
Ground-loop heat pump water heater refers to a heat pump water heater using water that
circulates in underground coils as the heat source.
3.13 inlet water temperature
T1
Inlet water temperature refers to the water temperature measured at the water inlet before the
instantaneous heat pump water heater starts heating;
After the circulating heat pump water heater and static heat pump water heater complete water
filling, the average temperature of water measured at the inlet and outlet of the water tank.
3.14 outlet water temperature
T2
Outlet water temperature refers to the water temperature measured at the water outlet of the
system when the instantaneous heat pump water heater is in stable heating;
Annual average heating capacity refers to the sum of the heat provided to the heated water
throughout the year when the heat pump water heater performs heating under specified working
conditions and specified conditions.
3.22 annual average heating input
AP
Annual average heating input refers to the sum of the electricity consumption provided to the
heated water throughout the year when the heat pump water heater performs heating under
specified working conditions and specified conditions.
3.23 annual performance factor
APF
Annual performance factor refers to the ratio of the sum of the heat provided to the heated water
by the heat pump water heater throughout the year to the sum of the electricity consumption
during the same period.
3.24 Other Terms
3.24.1 capacity of water storage tank
Capacity of water storage tank refers to the maximum capacity of a water storage tank that can
store hot water under specified conditions.
3.24.2 pressure-resistant water storage tank
Pressure-resistant water storage tank refers to a water storage tank with an air-tight tank body,
does not connect with the ambient air, and can withstand a certain pressure.
3.24.3 rated pressure of water
Rated pressure of water refers to the water pressure specified by the manufacturer for the heat
pump water heater.
4 Product Classification
4.1 Types of Classification
4.1.1 Classification by the mode of heat source:
a) air-source heat pump water heater;
b) water-source heat pump water heater;
4.1.2 Classification by the type of power source:
5.2.2 When the water inlet and outlet pipes of the heat pump water heater are directly installed
in the sub-water supply system, the water inlet and outlet pipes shall comply with the
requirements of relevant national standards.
5.2.3 The assembly of each component of the main unit of the heat pump water heater shall be
firm and reliable; the compressor shall have anti-vibration measures. When the heat pump water
heater is operating, there shall be no abnormal sound, and there shall be no mutual friction or
collision between the pipeline and the components. The components of the heat pump water
heater, for example, the electromagnetic reversing valve, shall have sensitive and reliable action.
5.2.4 The auxiliary electrical heating elements in the heat pump water heater shall be reliably
fixed or separately placed, so as to prevent damage during normal transportation and
maintenance. The pipe material of the auxiliary electrical heating elements shall have sufficient
anti-corrosion performance, and its anti-corrosion performance shall not be lower than the
