3 Terms and Definitions
What is defined in GB/T 4823-2013, and the following terms and definitions are applicable to
this document.
3.1 engineered wood flooring
Flooring made of solid wood panels or veneers (including restructured decorative veneers) as
the panel, solid wood panels, veneers or plywood as the core layer or bottom layer, and
laminated in different combinations.
NOTE: determine the name of floor tree species based on the panel tree specifies (except for
parquet floors with panels of different tree species).
3.2 two-layer engineered wood flooring
Two-layer-structured solid wood composite flooring with solid wood panels or veneers
(including restructured decorative veneers) as the panel, and solid wood panels or veneers as
the bottom layer.
3.3 three-layer engineered wood flooring
Three-layer-structured solid wood composite flooring with solid wood panels or veneers
(including restructured decorative veneers) as the panel, and solid wood panels as the core layer
and veneers as the bottom layer.
3.4 multi-layer engineered wood flooring
Multi-layer (with more than 3 layers) structured solid wood composite flooring with solid wood
panels or veneers (including restructured decorative veneers) as the panel, and plywood as the
base material, or solid wood panels or veneers (including restructured decorative veneers) as
the panel, and solid wood panels or veneers as the core layer or bottom layer.
3.5 nonplanar engineered wood flooring
Solid wood composite flooring with uneven surfaces, such as: saw marks and drawings, etc.
3.6 classic tongue-and-groove joint engineered wood flooring
Solid wood composite flooring with right-angled tenons and grooves on the sides and ends.
3.7 interlocking joint engineered wood flooring
Solid wood composite flooring with locking sides and ends.
NOTE: after the interlocking flooring is spliced, it constitutes a physical barrier to prevent
separation from vertical seams and parallel to the floor surface.
3.18 nib
Granular debris adhering to the surface of the paint film.
3.19 film abrasion resistance
An indicator of the abrasion resistance of the paint film on the surface of solid wood composite
flooring, which is expressed by the amount of paint film wear loss after a certain number of
revolutions of relative friction between a grinding wheel of a certain particle size and the surface
of the paint film.
3.20 size of the surface layer
The length and width of the solid wood composite flooring surface, excluding the tongue.
3.21 light fastness
The capability of a product surface to maintain its original color under sunlight or artificial light.

3.22 locking strength
The capability of the floor lock connection part to resist lateral (perpendicular to the lock
connection seam and parallel to the panel surface) pulling force.
3.23 total volatile organic compounds; TVOC
Volatile organic compounds sampled by Tenax GC or Tenax TA, analyzed on a non-polar
chromatographic column (polarity index is less than 10), and with a retention time between n-
hexane and n-hexadecane.

4 Classification
4.1 Classification in accordance with the panel material:
---engineered wood flooring with natural whole veneer as the panel;
--- engineered wood flooring with naturally spliced (including parquet) veneers as the
panel;
--- engineered wood flooring with restructured decorative veneers as the panel;
--- engineered wood flooring with toned veneers as the panel.
4.2 Classification in accordance with the structure:
---two-layer engineered wood flooring;
---three-layer engineered wood flooring;
---multi-layer engineered wood flooring.
4.3 Classification in accordance with the coating mode:
---oil-finished engineered wood flooring;
---paint-finished engineered wood flooring;
---unfinished engineered wood flooring.
4.4 Classification in accordance with the surface shape:
---planar engineered wood flooring;
---nonplanar engineered wood flooring.
4.5 Classification in accordance with whether it is suitable for ground radiant heating places:
---engineered wood flooring for non-underfloor heating;
